WordPress already has email functionality built-in. But sometimes you want other methods to handle outgoing e-mails. The wpMandrill plugin is a handy script that sends e-mails generated by WordPress through Mandrill. It uses Mandrill API to handle the job and replaces the wp-mail function included in WordPress.
The plugin lets you use your own templates (that you have added to your MailChimp account). Emails are automatically tagged for statistics within your dashboard. Once you install the plugin, you will be able to start sending e-mails through Mandrill. Emails can be changed by using filters. Those of you who happen to be MailChimp users can do a lot of neat things with this service.
The wpMandrill plugin is still in beta. It is worth testing if you plan to rely on Mandrill to handle outgoing emails. This is a free plugin.
